Adventure Recreation

The Adventure Recreation program is designed to get you (and maybe some friends) outdoors to experience recreation opportunities available in South Florida, the state, and the Southeastern U.S.

Trips and classes are open to FIU students, Recreation Members and the FIU Community (FIU-affiliated, non-Recreation Members) at differing costs. Some trips require special gear. Participants providing their own gear must have it approved by the trip leader(s)/sponsor; otherwise it will provided (usually at a fee) by the trip leader(s)/ sponsor.

All participants will be required to sign a Waiver provided either by the trip leader(s)/ sponsor or Recreation Services. Payment must be made in full when registering. Cash, credit card, FIU Debit Card, money order or cashier checks only. Refund available only if trip is cancelled.

SHARK VALLEY NATIONAL PARK BIKE TOUR

You'll see some of the Florida Everglades' true natives on this scenic and leisurely bike tour in Shark Valley. Some so up-close and personal that you might want to touch - but don't! Bikes and helmets are provided, but make sure to bring sunscreen, a water bottle, a hat and a camera to remember this trip.

HORSEBACK RIDING IN DAVIE

Enjoy the extended tour and ride on the public trail around the Bar-B Ranch in Davie. If you've never ridden a horse before, this is your opportunity to get a new experience at a leisurely pace.

SNORKELLING AT JOHN PENNEKAMP PARK

8th ANNUAL SKI TRIP TO GATLINBURG, TN

TRIP DATES: Thurs., Feb. 23 - Sun., Feb. 26
REGISTRATION BEGINS: Mon., Jan. 9
REGISTRATION DEADLINE: Earlybird - by Fri., Feb. 10, 5:00pm, RC 103
COST: Earlybird - $275 FIU students, $300 Faculty/Staff/Alumni/Guest
INCLUDES: Bus transportation to and from, hotel accommodations, equipment rental, lift tickets and more.
MAXIMUM PARTICIPANTS: 50

Pack up all your winter gear and join FIU Adventure Recreation for a weekend ski trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. The bus leaves the Rec Center promptly at 6am on the morning of Feb. 23 so don't be late.
